How much can you make selling Notion templates on Gumroad?
Half of the fixed-price Notion templates on Gumroad that show a sales counter have earned under $520 in estimated lifetime revenue, and the top 10% clear $7,560 (InsightRaider snapshot, September 23, 2026). Category leader Ultimate Brain has 15,093 sales, about $1.9M estimated. Income scales with catalog size and reviews.
The Short Answer: Median vs Average vs Top
- Half of the fixed-price Notion templates that show a sales counter have earned under $520 in estimated lifetime revenue
- The top 10% of those templates clear $7,560; only 31 of 365 pass $10,000
- Category leader Ultimate Brain has 15,093 sales at $129, or ~$1.9M in estimated revenue
- A second and third product pay off most: revenue per product peaks at 2–3 products, then falls
Written for designers and creators monetizing reusable assets. Based on InsightRaider's analysis of 146,271 products and a September 23, 2026 snapshot of 3,648 Notion listings on Gumroad.
There is no single number for Notion template income. There is a distribution, and it is extremely top-heavy. Three figures describe it honestly:
The top 10%: those same templates clear $7,560 in estimated lifetime revenue. Only 31 of the 365 pass $10,000, and just 2 pass $100,000.
The ceiling: one product, Ultimate Brain, sits far above everyone else. See the breakdown below.
How to read these numbers: Gumroad shows cumulative sales, so every figure here is lifetime revenue, estimated as list price × public sales count. Only 1,006 of the 3,648 Notion listings we track display a counter, and sellers with sales are the ones most likely to show it, so the true median is probably lower.
The archive contains product-level price and sales-proxy estimates over an unknown revenue period. It does not measure monthly creator income, the share making a living, or the time needed to reach an earnings target.
What the Top Sellers Actually Make
The ceiling is best illustrated by the niche's best-selling paid products:
| Product | Price | Sales | Est. Revenue | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Brain (Thomas Frank) | $129 | 15,093 | $1.9M | 5.0 |
| The Notion Money Academy | $497 | 1,152 | ~$573K | 5.0 |
| Newsletter Operating System | $59 | 1,682 | ~$99K | 5.0 |
Ultimate Brain figures come from our March 17, 2026 product archive; the other rows come from the September 23, 2026 snapshot.
Notice what the leader is: a complete workspace system (projects, tasks, notes, goals) priced at $129, not a $9 habit tracker. The biggest earners in this niche sell systems and education, not single pages.
The catch: revenue concentration on Gumroad is brutal. Platform-wide, the top 1% of products capture 77.3% of all tracked revenue, and the top 10% take 93.8%. The Notion niche follows the same curve:
| Fixed-price Notion templates (365 with a public counter) | Est. lifetime revenue |
|---|---|
| Top 2 products | $100,000+ |
| Top 31 products | $10,000+ |
| Top 10% | $7,560+ |
| Median template | ~$520 |
| Templates under $500 | 179 of 365 (49%) |

Catalog Size: Why Products Two and Three Matter Most
Total sales climb with catalog size, which is expected: more products means more listings to buy from.
| Catalog size | # Sellers | Avg total sales |
|---|---|---|
| 1 product | 3,902 | 269 |
| 2–3 products | 1,157 | 706 |
| 4–5 products | 325 | 1,681 |
| 6–10 products | 254 | 1,641 |
| 11+ products | 137 | 5,201 |
The more useful number is revenue per product. In our study of 24,724 active sellers, it peaks at 2–3 products (median $187 per product, +40% vs solo sellers) and drops below the solo baseline at 8+ products. The first expansion pays; the ones after it dilute your attention and your listings.
For Notion templates, that means a second and third template aimed at adjacent use cases of the same buyer (a freelancer CRM, then an invoice tracker, then a project planner), each cross-selling the others. Not a 20-template shelf. Full data: how many products should you sell on Gumroad.
Pricing Sweet Spot, and What You Keep per Sale
Across all tracked products, the $30–$49 bracket keeps strong volume (268 average sales) at a solid price per unit, which makes it the platform's revenue sweet spot. For Notion templates specifically, the working ranges are:
- $9–$29: single templates (habit trackers, planners, CRM pages)
- $30–$47: bundles and multi-template packs
- $99–$129: complete workspace systems (the Ultimate Brain tier)
Gumroad's fee structure on direct sales is 10% + $0.50 platform fee, plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing. What you actually keep:
| List price | Total fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| $9 | $1.96 | $7.04 (78%) |
| $19 | $3.25 | $15.75 (83%) |
| $29 | $4.54 | $24.46 (84%) |
| $39 | $5.83 | $33.17 (85%) |
| $49 | $7.12 | $41.88 (85%) |
The fixed $0.80 of flat fees makes sub-$10 pricing punishing: you lose 22% of a $9 sale to fees but only 15% of a $49 one. Price at $19+ whenever the value justifies it.
Pay-what-you-want works as a lead magnet, not a business model: PWYW products average $18.74 per sale vs $66.77 for fixed-price. Use one free or PWYW template to build ratings and an audience, then monetize with premium templates. PWYW products reach 10+ ratings at 20.8% vs 8.0% for fixed price.

How to Beat the Median: What Separates Earners
Four levers show up consistently in the products that out-earn the median:
1. Vertical positioning. "Notion CRM for Freelance Designers" outsells "Productivity Template." The buyers who pay $29+ are searching for their job or their problem, so specificity is the entire positioning game.
2. Reviews as the growth engine. Products with 4.5–4.9-star ratings average 1,197 sales; products with no ratings average 18. Every sale you don't convert into a review is compounding you gave up. Setup docs and a walkthrough video make it easier for buyers to succeed, and satisfied buyers are the ones who leave reviews.
3. The free-to-paid funnel. One strong PWYW template builds the ratings base that your $29–$47 products monetize.
4. Bundles over singles. Bundling 3–5 templates at $39–$47 moves you into the $30–$49 sweet spot and raises the cart value of every buyer you win.

Benchmark Your Niche Before You Build
The gap between a $0 template and a five-figure one is mostly decided before launch, by whether the sub-niche's demand justifies another entrant. InsightRaider tracks 146,271 Gumroad products with revenue estimates, pricing benchmarks, and competitive positioning, so you can see what Notion templates actually earn before you spend weeks building one. Free Templates Dominate the Download Charts
Nearly half of the niche gives its product away: 1,666 of the 3,648 Notion listings (46%) are free or pay-what-you-want. At the top of the charts, the pattern is even starker: 19 of the 20 Notion listings with the most public sales are free or pay-what-you-want. Ultimate Brain is the paid exception.
That tells you how the niche works. Free templates win the downloads, the ratings, and the audience. Paid income comes afterwards, from buyers who already trust the creator.
Where you list matters too. Most Notion templates sit in two Gumroad categories: 1,179 in Business & Money and 756 in Self-Improvement. Across all products in our 146,271-product dataset, those categories average $10,130 and $8,536 in estimated revenue per product, far ahead of Gaming at $971. Build for buyers whose problem costs them money or time at work: that segment pays more.

How to interpret the evidence
Revenue estimates use public product signals. They are not audited seller accounts or profit. Historical prices, discounts, refunds and unobserved transactions can change actual earnings.
Check the source, sample and observation period stated alongside each figure. When a date or period is unavailable, do not infer monthly income or recent growth from the total.
Editorial update: . This date does not establish when the underlying product data was collected. Comparisons are research inputs, not a guarantee of results for a new offer.
